Sanjusangendo is a 15 minute walk from Gojo Guesthouse (a bit faster, if you are not lame from walking around for days). This temple houses 1001 statues of Kannon, a multi-armed Buddha who desired to save all people, and was given many hands and much understanding to do so. The temple is about as long as a football field; the entrance on the far left is about halfway down.

You can see the bad fortunes that people didn’t want tied up in front of the temple. Most temples and shrines have convenient lines for hanging your undesireable fortunes.
