I think it is a testament to the rock garden at Ryouanji that this unassuming rock is actually meditative. Partly this is due to the extreme uniformity of the white pebbles, which highlights the subtle layering of the rock (which is a little hard to see at smaller sizes). It might also be due to the contrast with the other rocks, which are obviously more interesting, at least until you examine this one more carefully.
