Basilica di San Marco, Venice124 / 181
Since Venice allied itself with Byzantium, so much of the artwork on the basilica has a Byzantine style, even though it was created between the 1070 and 1270, and subsequently repaired after fire damage from 1419 to 1509. Work after that point was done in the contemporary, Renaissance style. “Renovations” in the modern era have been poorly done.
