If you walk along the mountain path, you will come to this shrine, which appears to be a shrine to a rock. The first kanji is “light,” and I don’t think the character for “rock” or “stone” is there, so maybe the kami merely lives there. Still, I could see the rock spirit being useful; the Japanese like stability, and there’s nothing more stable than a rock.
