In the garden behind the pavilion there is a Shinto shrine. I have no idea which kami (spirit) this is dedicated to, but it not uncommon to have Shinto shrines at Buddhist temples. Buddhism deals with the after-life; the Shinto kami will perhaps help you with the present life.
