Shinto high place, Higashiyama trail10 / 99
While I was wandering, I saw a bunch of of elementary school kids coming down some mountain trail. It turns out that the mountains in Kyoto have a hiking trail the runs along the top. At one of the sign posts is this small shrine. I have no idea what the idols represent, but they are always surprisingly featureless—the face is only a suggestion—and they usually they have red or white cloth napkin-looking dresses tied around them. They remind me of the high places that Israel kept going to.
