Garden at Sanjusangendo10 / 22
Sanjusangendo is also not a Zen Buddhist temple, being dedicated to Kannon, the thousand-armed deity each of whose arms saves a world. The garden, however, also has many of the Zen features. There pond’s shape is somewhat irregular, and there is a definite island in the center. I cannot remember if there is a bridge on the far side, but there may have been since I remember that when I took the picture from the opposite side, I made sure to position myself to keep something out of the picture. This garden also has the feature of interesting rocks, although there are perhaps too many of them to look natural. There is also a distinct sculptural element to the garden; it almost invites you to walk around it.
