Bridge of Sighs, Venice140 / 181
I thought the Bridge of Sighs referred to the bridge I was standing on when I took this picture and referred to the sound people make at the beauty of the view. Turns out, the Bridge of Sighs is the second-story bridge pictured here, and refers to the supposed sighs that prisoners make as they are transported from the judgment chambers in the Doge’s Palace (left) to the prison (right) and have their last glimpse of the outside world.
