Some of the stones have sculptures on them, worn smooth by many feet over hundreds of years. (Would you want to be buried where people walk all over you?) This person was buried in MCCCCXXXXII (1442); apparently in the olden days Roman numberals used a less confusing way of writing four than the modern way (MCDXLII)
