Giant spiders!65 / 69
The Lantau Trail officially ends at Tai-O. The Kwun Yam endpoint joins the trail via a waterworks-road. I recommend entering and exiting via the road, since the end of the trail has about 20 giant tropical spiders with their webs spun across the trail (just about at head level). The picture you are looking at is about actual size.

Unlike American spider webs, which disintegrate onto your face if you walk through them, these are actually harder to break. I did not see a web at the peak. Fortunately, I missed the web, but one single strand caught me on the chin. As I felt it, I jerked my head back, but not before it pressed into my skin. What amazed me was that the strand was not broken. I think Tolkien got the idea for the Mirkwood spiders from a visit to the tropics...

I know Genesis says that God made all the plants and animals, but I’m not convinced He made spiders. I do not see much resemblence between His character and spiders’ character.
