The Standard Mine was one of the most profitable mines in Bodie, producing over $18 million (about $400 million in 2015 dollars) of gold and silver over the life of the mine. The stamp mill pictured here crushed the ore and extracted the metals.

The stamp mill tour is well worth the $10, especially if done by the volunteers.
