Looking out here to the north is what used to be the more colorful part of Bodie. To the left of the jail (the building on the left) was Bonanza Street; to the right of the stables was Main Street. Between these two streets were most of the saloons and red-light district.

The red bricks in the background are the ruins of the Mastretti Liquor Warehouse.
