Zion has so many visitors and only a narrow road with limited parking, so it has a shuttle bus system. As you ride, the bus plays a recording of a man describing interesting things about the park. The thing about hearing a recording over and over again is that you pick up all the inflections: “This IS... Court of the Partriarchs.” A Methodist minister named these after the Biblical patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob is the tall peak mostly hidden by the red peak of Mount Moroni (not a Biblical patriarch; the Mormon settlers had already named this peak after the name of the angel who gave Joseph Smith the golden plates).
