Those small rocks in the distance in the last picture? Try not to be there when those boulders crack off the cliff and roll down!
About here my knee apparently decided that I had hiked down a few hundred feet too many yesterday, and started to hurt. 500 feet down and 3 miles away from the car, with a few hours left until sunset. With night quickly dropping to the 50s, staying the night is not an open, and there isn’t exactly and wood to use for a can. A Boy Scout is always prepared: I had brought dowel rod topped with a tennis ball for a can just in case. It was slow going.
